I don't even know where to start. This was such a fun day. Our morning view was the ship backing in to the port city. Our room was at the very end of the ship so we had a front row view. There were dancers in the plaza welcoming us.
We got off the ship and met with tour guide Paulo. She was a fun Italian lady who I think I could be friends with. She invited us to come back so she could cook for us. I would love to take her up on that. She told me how she goes to the market every morning and gets her food for the day. Everything is so fresh and real. We drove to Camogli.
The city sites in Camogli. As we were walking through the city we saw a German man who stopped and talked to us. He thought we were German but soon found we don't speak German or Italian. He was an old business man and had been to America. It really is such a small world.
Gelato in Italy really is as amazing as I heard it would be. I think I need to move here. This gelateria was on the cutest boardwalk with the cutest buildings. I could have spent days right on this street.

You can see by the look on my face this foccacia was amazing! This bakery makes the yummiest, freshest most delicious focaccia in the world! I don't actually know that but focaccia originated here so I kind of think so. We also had a lemon drink that was the best drink I've ever had. I'm kind of obsessed with lemons and Italy isn't helping with that. I'm not complaining though. We also went to a pasta store where we had fresh pasta and sauce. Amazing.
Our next stop was Portofino. Each city just gets better. And makes me want to move here. Or at least be able to eat here often. We first walked up to a church on a long slippery hill. The slope was worth it because it was lined with lemon trees and cute little shops. We bought the girls some cute aprons and a beautiful linen tablecloth.
We went to the city Liguria for lunch. I wanted to try all of the local food even if it was weird. I tried oyster pasta and surprisingly liked it. Loved the pasta, tolerated the oysters. We also tried lasagna and the BEST pesto in the world. Pesto originated in Genoa and wow they know what the are doing. We had pesto gnocchi and loved every bite. For dessert we had beignets. And oh, the olive oil, I could probably drink it.
Santa Margherita Ligure church in the city.
I took so many pictures of the alley ways in Genoa. Everything was beautiful and charming.
We saw the LDS church and got pretty excited. It was neat talking to Paulo about the church.
There was a flower art festival while we were there. All of these are made with flowers. Pretty impressive.
We saw some cool art and even saw a few of the artists.
I must say our first day in Italy did not disappoint. Everything was beautiful and delicious and although we just left I just want to go back!
