We woke up to a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. We got ready and started our day at The Orsay Museum. I loved everything about the Musée d'Orsay. It is a former
railway station which makes the architecture stunning. Orsay has mostly French
art from 1848 to 1914. It has the largest collection of impressionist and
post-impressionist art. Basically all of my favorite artists are included there;
Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cezanne, Cassatt and Van Gogh. It was breathtaking
standing in front of originals of so many of my favorites. Next we went to the Rodin
Museum to see The Thinker. Our last stop of the day was Les Invalides and Napoleon’s tomb. Les Invalides used to be called the Hotel National
des Invalides, the National Residence of the Invalids. It is a complex of
buildings with museums and monuments all relating to the military history of
France as well as a hospital and retirement home for war veterans. We ate dinner at our hotel. We had a charcuterie board, bread, a club
sandwich, and a delicious lemon dessert. We once again went to our room and hit
the hay.
