Teach the ideal then teach to deal with the real (7.5.2015)
Yep, that is our names on the program! But that's not what this is about. We have been talking a lot about how we can help our kids during Sacrament meeting. Today we had Eliza draw what she heard as she listened to the speakers. She did a great job and got creative in drawing what she heard. We are trying to not only keep the Sabbath day holy but get more out of it and to teach our children about reverence. The world is such a crazy place and I worry myself sick sometimes thinking about the things my children will have to go through and deal with. But I know without a doubt if I teach them to recognize the Spirit and to act on the promptings they get, they will be ok. Our Relief Society president today shared a little thought that I love; We teach the ideal then teach to deal with the real. Wow isn't that the truth. We teach our children to live the best they can and to believe and to be good examples. But, we also need to give them the tools to deal with what is going on in the world so they can deal with whatever may come their way. I am so thankful to have the gospel and to know that if we endure this life well, we will be blessed with eternal life. I look forward to that!
