Vacay Day 6 {Mahogany Bay Isla Roatan Honduras}

Today turned out to be a lot different than expected. We were picked up with our guide for the day Rony. He was a nice guy who took us everywhere we wanted to go. Our first stop was the zip line. I am terrified of heights and wasn't so sure how I would like it. After the initial shock I LOVED it. For some reason I got nervous at the end of each one but I loved it. It was so beautiful being above the rainforest.  On the way back from zip lining we saw some kids dancing and signing to earn money. We thought it would be neat to go see a real neighborhood and the way their lives were. Rony took us to where he lives which is also where he grew up. This was probably my favorite thing we have done and will do this week. I was taken by the children. I would have given anything to speak Spanish and be able to communicate better with them. We bought some candy from their tiny little store and gave it to the kids. We had to go buy more because as soon as the kids saw candy the word spread and more kids kept streaming towards us. It was so bittersweet to see their eyes light up when we gave them one or two tiny pieces of candy. It was probably the best thing they had received in a long time. We were happy to make them happy but it was sad knowing that is all we could do right then. I know what we'll be doing for Christmas next year if anyone wants to help! Rony's brother runs a program for the kids and said they would be happy to get anything we sent. It was quite the experience. Before we met Rony I was kind of complaining about a few things. Ben said so when we go on a mission someday no South America? I said no way. When we left this neighborhood I said I'd be ok with South America. After such an amazing experience we went to the beautiful water and snorkeled. We took a little boat out to the reef and spent some time in the water. The fish and reef were amazing. We went back to the ship, got ready super fast, went to dinner then hung out with everyone. We went to bed and slept like rocks after such a long day.

The monkeys and the zip line.

Before the zip line.

Joseph, Bill and Becca Mark.

Ben holding one of the monkey's. I was excited to hold one until it started biting at Ben! I decided to enjoy them from a distance.

These kids were dancing and singing to earn money. Talk about a tear jerker.

Everywhere you looked there was laundry hanging. It made me thankful for my dryer.

This little girl was watching us from her door. I went and gave her some candy. She was so excited.

Rony in his neighborhood.

Joseph sharing the candy with the kids.
Notice the little girl with curly hair. I couldn't help myself, I had to snuggle her. I held her for a few minutes. She wasn't so sure about me until I gave her some candy. She made me miss my little bug!

A restaurant that was set up like a light house.

The beautiful water where we snorkeled.

Check out the snorkel mask marks on my face.

Singing happy birthday to Scott.
